Washington City Water Park
Posted by on Wednesday, June 25th, 2008 at 5:43pm.Where is the Washington City Water Park?
The city of Washington, Utah is a neighboring city to St George. Many of the big box stores as well as popular dining are located within Washington City. What many people don’t realize about Washington Utah is the hidden gem the City has tucked away! Washington City has a beautiful water park hidden behind a neighborhood. Sure, there are "splash pads" scattered generously through the areas of Southern Utah, but this park is surely one of the best! The grounds feature two large parks on either side. Both sides are packed full of playground equipment. Between the parks is the splash pad, or Water Park. Unlike some of the other splash pads I have visited, this one is very large and offers several water features!
The playground park(s) area has covered areas that feature park benches. They
are quite large so this will accommodate several people. There are sprawling greens that separate the parks from the splash pad, so there is plenty of room to run around. A paved trail moves around the park and a tennis court is also featured.
So where is this place? Well, it took me a while to find it, it’s hidden well and I found no advertising for the water park. It just so happens that when I was showing property to clients in the neighborhood, when I turned down the wrong street and discovered the gem!
Here are the directions
The park is called Pine View Park and is located within the Pine View neighborhood. You can take S 3000 E (if you are taking River Road turn on E 1450 S which is just South of Riverside Dr.) S. 3000 E. also becomes Sandia, which you can catch from Washington Fields Rd. You’ll see the Pine View neighborhood and you can turn down Cimarron, take that down to Alamosa Dr. You can turn left (toward the river) on Churrea Dr or Alveo Dr. Both of these are small culdesac streets and at the end you will find a parking lot for the park. The Water Park is between these two streets; you can easily walk to both sides from whichever side you park on.
If you happen to get there and the water is not running…here is the trick to turn it on. There is a red poll with a black dome cap on top, to the side of the splash pad. All you have to do is place your hands on top of the dome for a few seconds and the water fun will return! Since there is no standing water this will be fun and safe for the entire family. There is a restroom and drinking fountain near the slash pad, but be sure to bring the sunscreen and possibly a shade umbrella. There are benches and grass around the splash pad, but no place to sit in the shade (that is over by the playgrounds). ENJOY!!
